Jumbo Wild is the story of the battle between local grassroots activists and a charming but megalomaniacal Italian developer over turning the pristine Jumbo massif and crucial grizzly bear breeding habitat into a 4 season glacier-skiing megaresort. Characters are misfits, monkey wrenchers, an entire symphony orchestra on a glacier and generally quirky Canadians who have fought big money and the prevailing political machinery tooth and nail for a quarter century. Our antagonist is an extremely successful ski resort developer and architect who said, “Every great architect must have his cathedral. Up to now I have built only small churches. Jumbo is my cathedral.”
