When the filmmakers heard Minnesota folksinger Charlie Parr playing live in Sydney, Australia, they fell in love with his music. They followed his career and went to see him play a year later in their native Paris. They chatted with Parr, and he invited them to come hear him play in Duluth — which inspired them to create a documentary about this unique musician. Fascinated with the United States as well as with its music, they thought that following an emblematic Minnesota singer was a perfect starting point for a journey off the beaten track. The result is a film that resonates with artistry, honesty and intelligence.
